Agland Macerator
Macerator
The Macerator 6600 series is a unique machine designed to improve the quality of green hay bales. The Macerator has a cam pickup to pick up the swath (windrow) to feed it into the rubber rolls to feed it into a set of steel serrated rolls. The Macerator gently cracks the stem of the crop being macerated. This allows the stems and knots to dry out much faster than conventional crimping. The Macerator has been used in crops like millets, alfalfa, timothy, sorghum, corn, grasses, and more.
The New Agland Macerator 6610
The improved AgLand MACERATOR 6610 is now more effective for intensive forage conditioning and is easier to operate. The Macerator helps speed up drying time and improves yield and quality. The extra heavy duty Macerator is built to withstand rough field conditions working at a ground speed of up to 10 MPH. The Macerator comes with an air tank which makes it easy to field adjust the feeding and maceration rollers. A minimum 70 HP tractor is required to operate the machine. Maceration cracks or nicks the stems allowing the moisture to escape quickly, improving both the texture and colour of the hay. The Macerator 6610 will soften the hay. More importantly it will preserve the protein content, exposing more plant sugar to allow for efficient fermentation. Hay will be more palatable and digestible, potentially translating into: increased energy, significant weight gains and increased milk production. The Macerator 6610 features adjustable wear-resistant rubber feed rollers and uniquely patterned steel rollers for effective maceration. A number of options are available for the Macerator including:
- Windrow Inverter
- Windrower
- Swath Spreader
- Tedder
Features and Benefits
- Macerated crop equals less time in the field for a better yield!
- The Extra Heavy Duty Macerator is built to withstand rough field conditions.
- No tools required for field adjustment.
- Height of pickup reel is easily adjusted direct from the tractor.
- The unique air system works like a shock absorber and keeps the rollers tight together.
- Air pressure can, easily and quickly, be adjusted with a simple turn of the knob for maximum performance under various field conditions.
- Ground speed is up to 10 MPH (16 km/hr).
- The Macerator is ready to work for you and requires no special hookups or brackets, all you need is a 70-80 HP tractor.
How It Works
More Thorough Than a Conditioner- The Agland Macerator features a double set of rollers, allowing it to do a more thorough job than any other system on the market. The pickup reel feeds the crop to the rubber intake rollers where the swath is flattened out before it is fed through the steel patterned rollers. The air pressure system helps maintain an even pressure on the rollers without crushing the hay.
Faster Drying- Maceration takes place between the steel rollers. The top steel roller runs at a slightly different speed than the bottom roller. This action cracks and nicks the stems of the plants and removes some of the wax, resulting in cell rupture. This allows the moisture to escape at a quicker rate than with conventional equipment, promoting a much faster dry down.
Preserves Nutrients and Color- Long exposure during dry down causes leaching of nutrients and color. Less exposure to damaging sun rays helps preserve both nutrients and color. This makes the finished product a lot more valuable for export and domestic use.
More Palatable- Maceration helps to soften the hay, preserves the protein content and exposes more plant sugar to allow more efficient silage fermentation, making all of the hay more palatable and increasing the digestibility of the hay or forage, which may translate into:
- increased energy
- significant weight gains
- increased milk production
